Boxing Gloves and Protection Gear: Foam or Gel?

Many ask, what is the difference between gel and traditional foam padding in gloves, shin guards and other MMA gear?

Generally, gel delivers better impact resistance. Gel improves shock absorption when hitting a heavy bag or a target as it ‘spreads’ the shock onto a larger area.

Opinions vary from fighter to fighter, however,  some contend gel padding is more comfortable and doesn’t lose its shape after repeated impacts. Some heavy hitters say that when their knuckles or shins got sore, gel padding helped them continue training longer and harder.

And what is your gel glove or shin guard experience?
