Most Nootropics follow a similar recipe and use many of the same ingredients. The formulations always differ slightly, and the dosages are not the same, but in most cases, roughly half of the components overlap.

In the case of Mind Lab Pro and Hunter Focus, it goes a step further, as all Mind Lab Pro ingredients can be found in Hunter Focus. But does this make the same, or one of them is better?

Mind Lab Pro is an excellent nootropic, but Hunter Focus is measurably better. It contains every Mind Lab Pro ingredient, but some are better dosed, and several additional ones are in the formula, delivering even more potential cognitive benefits.

As expected, the price is higher, but not drastically. The price per dose if you buy in bulk is $2.25 for Hunter Focus and $1.73 for Mind Lab Pro. It’s up to you to decide whether the price difference is worth it.

The other main difference is the presence of 100 mg of caffeine in Hunter Focus, which can be both a pro and a con, depending on what you are looking for.

Taking the prescribed daily amount over time can boost memory and learning, improve cognitive function, and safeguard and promote brain health in almost all users. As the company put it, “Whoever you are. Whatever you’re doing”.

Hunter Focus is aimed at men and women in their prime who want to remain at the top of their game. The formulation features 14 active ingredients plus a few vitamins, all of which have proven scientifically effective.

What makes Hunter Focus premium is not simply the ingredients, which can be found in other nootropics, but the dosages, which are higher than much of the competition.

The mix enhances memory, improves mood, recenters focus and concentration, boosts creativity, and increases energy.

Ingredients

Hunter Focus and Mind Lab Pro follow the current understanding of mental enhancement and do not diverge from the beaten path.

This simply means all ingredients have solid scientific backing, are found in a few other nootropics, and no unique or overly speculative ingredients are included.

Another important detail is that every single active ingredient of Mind Lab Pro is also found in Hunter Focus. However, the second supplement also contains several additional substances in its formulation.

The key difference between the two is the presence of caffeine in Hunter Focus. The popular stimulant is paired with L-theanine, like in all decent nootropics, because the combination delivers unfailing boosts in energy and mood.

Their combined power can enhance working memory, reaction time, visual processing speed, and alertness and decrease mental and physical fatigue [12,13]

Mind Lab Pro also contains L-theanine, which is still a very effective ingredient on its own. It is used to relieve stress and anxiety and provides better verbal fluency and executive function [1] [2].

The two supplements also contain L-tyrosine, which is especially useful in situations when you need to handle multiple tasks simultaneously [3]. Hunter Focus has a significantly higher dose, 500 mg, compared to the 175 in Mind Lab.

No modern nootropic is complete without the ayurvedic herb Bacopa monnieri. Research suggests that Bacopa may help with verbal learning, memory development, and delayed recall [4]. Once again, Hunter Focus contains a much higher dose of 300 mg, while Mind Lab Pro has only 175.

The two products contain 250 mg of Citicoline, which optimizes brain pathways and boosts neural regeneration, focus, brain energy, and memory [9][10]. Citicoline boosts brain cell membrane formation by up to 26% and brain energy by 13.6%

Rhodiola Rosea is an herbal adaptogen that strengthens mental and physical stress resistance, boosts mood, and lessens symptoms of anxiety and sadness [5]. Both products contain 50 mg.  

Next on the list is Phosphatidylserine. Supplementation with the substance has been shown to increase cognitive function, especially in elderly individuals experiencing cognitive decline. This time, Mind Lab Pro has a slightly higher dose of 100 mg, while Hunter Focus contains 75 mg.

Another interesting shared ingredient is Lion’s Mane Mushroom. This unique mushroom shows significant promise for decreasing stress and increasing working memory, attention, and reaction time [6][7]. The two supplements have 500 mg, which is half of what was used in the studies.

The last common ingredient is Pine Bark extract, a potent antioxidant suggested to improve focus, short-term memory, and blood flow [8]. The doses once again match at 75 mg.

In addition to all the shared ingredients, Hunter Focus has more to offer.

L-carnitine shows mixed results in cognitive enhancements but has well-documented positive effects on physical exercise, such as better recovery, muscle oxygen supply, stamina, and reduced muscle soreness. The studies about brain health are inconclusive, but L-carnitine may have some benefits as a nootropic [14,15].

Hunter Focus also contains the time-honored herbal remedy Ashwagandha, which is used to treat a wide range of conditions. A study has shown it reduces cortisol and relieves stress [16]. It also reduces anxiety and fatigue.

Another well-known nootropic plant is Ginko Biloba. Ginko increases blood flow to the brain, which helps in reducing cognitive decline in elderly people, and it may be helpful in mitigating the impact of Alzheimer’s [17,18].

The long list of potentially beneficial substances in Hunter Focus is also complemented by Spanish Sage, Panax Ginseng, and Maritime Pine Bark Extract.

Stimulant vs. Non-Stimulant

Hunter Focus vs Mind Lab Pro Benefits

Hunter Focus is a stimulant nootropic because it contains caffeine, a legal drug I am sure everyone is familiar with. In addition to all the other nootropic ingredients and possible benefits, caffeine, especially when combined with L-theanine, always delivers a near-instant energy, mood, and concentration boost.

The downsides of caffeine are also well known. They include possible anxiousness, heartbeat, sleep problems, and irritability. L-theanine is also highly beneficial in mitigating the potential side effects, but it won’t save your sleep if you take caffeine too late in the day, so keep this in mind.

Mind Lab Pro is a non-stimulant nootropic and cannot produce such quick results in any area. It’s more of a long-term effect supplement.

Short vs. Long-Term Effects

For non-stimulant nootropics, the effects are usually noticed around the second week of administration, with optimal results achieved after 2 or 3 months, depending on the formulation and the individual.

Hunter Focus is both a short- and long-term product. The caffeine provides fast results, while the rest of the extensive formulation, which largely coincides with Mind Lab Pro, delivers long-term effects after the substances accumulate in the body.

Clinical Research

Mind Lab Pro is one of the few nootropics with independent, complete formulation research. Two studies have been conducted, with one still in process. Both are double-blind and placebo-controlled, proving that the substance is highly beneficial for better information processing and improving memory [19].

While one was paid for by the company, as is the case with most nootropics, the other was independently carried out by the University of Leeds, making it far more reliable. 

Hunter Focus does not have a complete formula study. However, all the ingredients have been studied to different degrees and are staples of modern (and traditional medicine) brain health enhancement.  

Side Effects

In general, the two products have no major known negative effects. All ingredients are natural and regularly used individually or in combinations in various other products, making them safe for most people.

The most common adverse effects of Mind Lab Pro and Hunter Focus include headaches, digestive difficulties, loss of appetite, dizziness, and confusion. I haven’t noticed any of them with the two supplements.

As I mentioned in the stimulant section, the caffeine in Hunter Focus carries a risk similar to any other caffeinated product.  

User Reviews

Mind Lab Pro has a 4.5-star rating based on almost 2,400 reviews, the majority of which are positive. Most customers are pleased with their purchase, which is not surprising given its exceptional nootropic properties. Of course, some claim they haven’t seen any improvement.

Unfortunately, Hunter Focus does not have a dedicated user review section on the website; it only has cherry-picked testimonials, which I never pay much attention to. It is an excellent product, but not having user reviews is a poor practice.

My Experience With Hunter Focus And Mind Lab Pro

Mind Lab Pro is one of my favorite non-stim nootropics. I prefer the all-in-one strategy since it is simple to follow and produces consistent results. I saw increased focus, reduced procrastination, and a greater ability to grasp complex information when I took it for a month more than once.

Hunter Focus also delivers the goods, as I expected. The first line of benefits is obviously thanks to caffeine, and taking the dose in the morning is a perfect start to the day.

The more gradual improvement became apparent in week two of my test when I noticed my focus improving.

By the end of week 4, several of my negative tendencies when working had markedly decreased. As is the case with nootropics, the benefits are not groundbreaking, but their compounding effect over time can lead to profound results.   

Should You Choose Hunter Focus Or Mind Lab Pro?

Hunter Focus objectively is the better nootropic. Every Mind Lab Pro ingredient is also in Hunter Focus, but a few are better dosed, and there are a few other potent nootropic substances on top. Then there is also caffeine, which works as a reliable energy booster.

This naturally comes at a higher monetary price and more pills. The dose of Mind Lab Pro is 2 capsules, while Hunter Focus requires you to swallow 6 per serving. And if, for some reason, you don’t want caffeine, Mind Lab Pro is a perfect alternative.

Both are great products I can easily recommend. The choice comes down to price and tolerance to stimulants.
