You will be easily forgiven for mixing the names Mind Lab Pro and Performance Lab Mind. The two nootropics are not only close in names but also in approach and formulation.

Both are good non-stimulant nootropics, but one is simply better. This comparison review will give you a direct and clear answer.

Mind Lab Pro is measurably better. It contains all four Performance Lab Mind ingredients in the same dosages (except for one ingredient) and adds four additional active elements for a much more extended benefit range.

Performance Lab Mind is not a bad product, but in a direct comparison, it looks like a watered-down version of Mind Lab Pro. While the price is lower, the difference is too small, and it’s better to buy the more comprehensive product.

Performance Lab provides a variety of supplements to meet various health demands. Its products are noted for using only clinically verified components.

The company does not use artificial colors, preservatives, additives, or common allergens, and all of its ingredients are organic, vegan, non-irradiated, and GMO-free.

Performance Lab offers a wide range of supplements, including Mind, a comprehensive daily brain supplement that supports focus, mood, clarity, and long-term brain health.

Mind Lab Pro helps you digest information better, filter out distractions, and think clearly, even in stressful situations, so you can be on top of your game every day. The supplement is pure and strong, and its safety and efficacy have been tested and proven.

Taking the recommended daily amount over time will boost memory and learning, improve cognitive function, and promote brain health.

The well-balanced formulation works for most people. The product’s slogan is “Whoever you are. Whatever you’re doing,” and it’s well justified.

The Performance Lab Mind stacks a few potent and research-backed nootropic components to improve mood, focus, and mind clarity. The product delivers natural and clean brainpower for as long as you take it.

The ingredients aim to restore essential brain nutrients that may be missing, and their absence is hindering peak brain performance.


Mind Lab Pro has a much more extensive list of 11 ingredients, covering a wider range of benefits. Performance Lab Mind has 4 research-backed components, but each is also found in Mind Lab Pro.

I will start with the shared ones and move on to the components found only in Mind Lab Pro.

L-tyrosine is an ingredient found in almost all nootropics because it has a strong and proven effect on mind flexibility, which leads to better multitasking and cognitive control [3]. Performance Lab Mind has a slight edge with 250 mg, while Mind Lab Pro contains 175 mg.

Both products contain 250 mg of Citicoline, which optimizes brain pathways and boosts neural regeneration, focus, brain energy, and memory [9][10]. Studies show that citicoline can boost brain cell membrane formation by up to 26% and brain energy by 13.6%

Next on the shared components list is phosphatidylserine (PS). PS is one of the most research-backed nootropics for long-term memory. The substance is best known for promoting fluid and flexible brain cell membranes. Keep in mind that PS is proven effective only in aging populations [12].

Mind Lab Pro and Performance Lab Mind contain 100 mg of phosphatidylserine.

The last shared component is Pine Bark extract, a potent antioxidant suggested to improve focus, short-term memory, and blood flow [8]. The dosages again match between the two, at 75 mg.

The remaining four active ingredients are only part of Mind Lab Pro’s formulation.

L-theanine, an amino acid found in green tea, is a powerful antioxidant and a common ingredient in nootropics due to its stress-relieving properties. It also improves verbal fluency and executive function [1] [2].

The ayurvedic herb Bacopa monnieri improves verbal learning, memory acquisition, and delayed recall by helping brain receptors process information [4].

Rhodiola Rosea is an herbal adaptogen that strengthens mental and physical stress resistance while supporting brain energy [5].

Organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom exhibits considerable potential in reducing stress and enhancing working memory, attention, and reaction time. [6][7].

Stimulant vs. Non-Stimulant

Mind Lab Pro vs Performance Lab

Mind Lab Pro and Performance Mind are both non-stimulant nootropics, which simply means they don’t contain caffeine. Caffeine is a legal drug that is leveraged by a lot of nootropics because it provides fast and certain boosts in brain power and energy.

Non-stimulant nootropics such as these two take longer to work and do not provide as noticeable effects. However, they also don’t have the drawbacks of caffeine, which can lead to anxiety and jitteriness in some and can disrupt sleep if taken too close to bedtime in all people.

Mind Lab Pro and Performance Lab Mind are more long-term effect stimulants, which leads us to the next section.

Short vs. Long-Term Effects

While I’ve felt the effects of Mind Lab Pro shortly after taking it, and Performance Lab Mind claims that the product starts working 30 minutes after intake, the long-term effects of the two are much more profound.

Non-stimulant nootropics work more with accumulation, and the more you take them, the more noticeable the effect becomes (up to a certain point, of course).

When a nootropic is working, as is the case with Mind Lab Pro, you can generally expect to have a clearer mind, better mood, more motivation, and a higher ability to focus.   

Clinical Research

Mind Lab Pro is one of the few nootropics with full formulation clinical research. Two studies have been conducted, with one still in process. Both studies are double-blind and placebo-controlled, and they show the supplement improves information processing and memory [11].

While one was done by the company, as is the case with most nootropics, the other was independently performed by the University of Leeds, making it far more respectable.

Although Performance Lab Pro lacks a study on the complete formula, all of its components are well-known and studied nootropics.

Side Effects

The two products have no major known negative effects. The ingredients are natural and are regularly used individually or in combinations in a variety of other products, making them safe for most people.

Still, some may experience adverse effects such as headaches, stomach difficulties, loss of appetite, dizziness, and confusion. I haven’t experienced any of them with the two supplements.

User Reviews

Mind Lab Pro has a 4.5-star rating based on almost 2400 reviews on the official website, the majority of which are positive. Most customers are pleased with their purchase, which is not surprising given its exceptional nootropic properties.

Of course, not all users are happy, and some don’t feel any noticeable benefits.

The product is also available on Amazon, but its score of 1000 reviews is a bit lower, mainly because many complain about the seal on the package.

 But in general, I would advise buying nootropics from manufacturer websites because I’ve seen way too many suspicious products on Amazon that could be fake.

Performance Lab Mind has a little over 100 reviews on its website, with a total score of 4.3. The product contains solid components, and most people are happy with the purchase.

My Experience With Mind Lab Pro And Performance Lab Mind

Mind Lab Pro vs Performance Lab Mind Benefits

Mind Lab Pro is one of my favorite non-stim nootropics because it has delivered consistent benefits. The effects I felt include increased focus, reduced procrastination, and better absorption of complex information.

You can feel some effects shortly after taking the pills, but in general, the benefits are compounding and gradually increasing.

Performance Lab Mind is not a bad product, but with only half of the ingredients, it cannot produce quite the same effect as Mind Lab Pro. Still, I’ve experienced better mind clarity and focus from the product. Some of the other Performance Lab blends have been better for me, but they are not in the scope of this comparison.

Should You Choose Performance Lab Mind Or Mind Lab Pro?

It’s hard to recommend Performance Lab Mind over Mind Lab Pro. Each of the four ingredients of the former is present in the latter, but Mind Lab Pro has 4 additional active components to provide more brain power and health.

Usually, the price can be a decisive factor, and a product with fewer ingredients can still provide more value, but in my opinion, the difference is too small to work in favor of Performance Lab Mind.

So, I definitely recommend you get Mind Lab Pro. It’s one of the best non-stimulant nootropics on the market, considering everything, including price.
