Two of the most popular mushroom coffees are Ryze Mushroom Coffee and Everyday Dose. I tried them both so you don’t have to. Here’s which is better and worth your money.

Quick Verdict

Proprietary blends and bad taste keep Ryze and Everyday Dose from being great mushroom coffees.

They contain well-proven adaptogenic mushrooms and other beneficial ingredients in solid but sometimes sub-optimal doses.

Both are popular mushroom coffees, and many people like them, but I wasn’t impressed. Instead, I prefer to stick to Nootrum Coffee Fusion, which combines optimal adaptogenic mushroom doses with coffee in a more potent and affordable blend.

What Is Ryze Mushroom Coffee?

RYZE Superfoods produces a variety of organic supplements and products, such as RYZE Matcha Coffee and RYZE Overnight Oats.

This review focuses on their organic mushroom coffee, which blends eight ingredients to provide a nutritious and beneficial substitute for conventional coffee.

The Ryze mushroom coffee is composed solely of organic components and is devoid of GMOs, as is typical for a product targeted toward health-conscious individuals. Every component was carefully chosen based on its established health benefits.

What Is Everyday Dose?

Everyday Dose is a premium mushroom coffee brand dedicated to providing the greatest quality mushroom products derived solely from fruiting body extract.

Their goods are rigorously tested for beta-glucans, heavy metals, allergies, and mycotoxins to ensure no added starch, mycelium, or grain is present.

Everyday Dose stresses the excellence of their extraction procedures, which include hot water and alcohol extraction to increase the bioavailability of therapeutic substances such as beta-D glucans and triterpenes.

Ryze vs. Everyday Dose Main Differences


Mushroom coffees strive to replace traditional coffee as a healthier alternative.

Coffee is not harmful, but it may be harsh in delivering its advantages, and not everyone responds well to it, which is why milder alternatives, such as mushroom coffees, exist.

Everyday Dose and Ryze’s main objective is to provide an energy boost without the adverse effects of traditional coffee; hence, they contain far less caffeine.

The other significant advantage is combining caffeine (coffee or black tea) with other substances, such as medicinal mushrooms, herbs, and plants, significantly increasing the potential for a wide range of health advantages.

Both items have completely organic ingredient lists and are GMO, vegan, and gluten-free.

The two products can also be purchased with a starter kit containing nice additions like frothers, booklets with recipes, and spoons. Both offer free shipping in the US. 


Ryze and Everyday Dose do not specify the individual doses of the components, so we must guess exactly how much of each is inside based on the total serving size and the order in which the ingredients are listed inside.  

Ryze includes organic arabica coffee, and each serving contains around half of what you would find in a standard cup of coffee.

The effects of the world’s most popular stimulant include increased energy, attentiveness, and countless other health benefits [1].

Everyday Dose also has coffee, and while the exact amount is not specified, the caffeine is 45 mg, around half of a regular cup of coffee. 

Both mixes contain the Lion’s Mane mushroom, which can boost brain health and function, cognitive performance, brain cell growth, blood flow to brain cells, attention, memory, focus, combat brain fog, mental decline, and other mental health issues [5].

The efficacious dose of Lion’s mane is 1000 mg, which is not matched by either product. Ryze has a 2000 mg mushroom blend containing 6 different mushrooms, while Everyday Dose has a 2275 mg blend of coffee, L-theanine, and two mushrooms, which is likely around 500 mg.

Both contain chaga, which is rich in compounds that provide benefits such as stimulating the digestive and immunological systems, enhancing attention and energy, lowering blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and preventing or curing cell mutation, fatigue, and certain chronic illnesses and somatic disorders [2][3].

The dosages of Chaga in the two products are likely relatively equal.

Ryze contains four more adaptogenic mushrooms, including reishi and cordyceps. Cordyceps supports natural energy, while reishi boosts the immune system [6][7].

The other two mushrooms found only in Ryze are turkey tail and king trumpet, the latter of which has not yet been proven to provide health advantages.

Ryze also contains MCT oil and coconut milk, which may offer extra health benefits. However, considering the overall serving size, we know they are insufficient for best results.

Everyday Dose contains 4725 mg of collagen peptides. These peptides can offer amazing benefits, such as Improving wound healing, gut function, blood clotting, and muscle growth and maintenance; maintaining the eyes, joints, bones, and skin healthy and working properly; decreasing cellulite; and boosting cartilage and connective tissue growth and repair [4].

However, studies show that you may need up to 10 grams daily, twice as much as in Everyday Dose.

The product also contains L-theanine, which is well known to promote calmness and relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance focus and sleep quality [9].

L-theanine is part of the mushroom blend, and it is possible to be in efficacious doses.


Ryze has a unique aroma that distinguishes it from other mushroom coffees, let alone regular coffee. The flavor is earthy, with a slight bitterness. The texture is pleasant, but the taste is awful.

I tried it with milk, creamer, and flavored syrups, but nothing made it particularly tasty.

However, flavor is the most subjective category, and some people may enjoy it. After all, thousands of user reviews share that they love to drink Ryze.

The same goes for Everyday Dose. The taste was my biggest hurdle when incorporating it into my routine.

The mushrooms’ strong, earthy undertones took some getting used to. Despite using a frother to mix it thoroughly and adding my customary creamer, I had to force myself to like the taste rather than looking forward to it every morning.

Clinical Research

Clinical studies have thoroughly researched the components of both products, and the findings are widely documented. I’ve included some relevant research in the ingredients section of this review, and there is much more available online.

Regarding third-party testing, both come with several certifications to provide health-conscious customers peace of mind.

Side Effects

Ryze and Everyday Dose contain coffee beans but in much lower amounts than regular coffee. Everyday Dose has 45 mg of caffeine, and I assume Ryze is also in this region. The lower caffeine makes the chance of experiencing negative side effects such as jitters or an energy crash highly unlikely.

Other probable adverse effects come from the mushroom blends. The two products contain several different mushrooms, which can trigger stomach discomfort, like bloating, gas, or pain.

For people who have never tried medicinal mushrooms, the chance of gastrointestinal issues is higher, but even if you experience some problems, they will likely go away quickly.

I haven’t had issues with either product.

User Reviews

Ryze’s Amazon listing has only a few reviews, but the website has over 100,000, which I initially found difficult to believe. I haven’t read through them all, but many customers appear satisfied with their purchases.

However, thousands of reviews also highlight dissatisfaction with the taste and lack of apparent benefits.

 Customer evaluations for Everyday Dose Mushroom Coffee have an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars.

When reading the positive reviews, it was consistently remarked that the product tasted good, was easy to mix, and produced benefits such as enhanced focus, mental clarity, energy levels, and less brain fog. Many consumers appreciated the bonus items coming in the starter kit.

However, the product’s unfavorable reviews reveal that many consumers encountered problems.

Negative reviews frequently state that it is pricey compared to the benefits it gives or delivers no benefits at all. There were also complaints about its poor texture, aftertaste, flavor, and potential adverse effects.

My Experience With Ryze And Everyday Dose

I wasn’t impressed by either product.

Ryze’s taste was difficult to get used to, and drinking it every morning was not something I looked forward to. Furthermore, the effects were not groundbreaking, and I feel more dialed in after a regular cup of coffee than with Ryze.

The blend is decent, and perhaps the health benefits have a compounding effect, but I haven’t noticed any significant changes in my mood or health.

My experience with Everyday Dose was quite similar. The biggest hurdle was the taste, which I didn’t like. Still, I stuck to it, hoping to reap the benefits from the potent blend, but I haven’t felt any more energy or focus than when drinking coffee.

Should You Choose Ryze Or Everyday Dose?

Despite my unpleasant experiences with Ryze and Everyday Dose, they are good mushroom coffees. The blends contain potent mushroom blends, even if they are not at the optimal dosages, and just the right amount of caffeine for people who find coffee too strong.

However, the taste and lack of strong enough effects made me stop drinking the two products after I was done testing them for reviews. Then, I simply returned to my favorite mushroom coffee, Nootrum Coffee Fusion.

Nootrum used the proper doses of the two most potent mushrooms, Lion’s Mane and Chaga, and somehow made the taste pleasant.
