Over the past few years more and more people involved in martial arts training are choosing a training holiday as a way of learning some new skills, making some new friends and having an experience that the local travel store just wouldn’t provide. We take a quick look at some of the top destinations in the world for a training vacation.

“FOR ANY KICKBOXER THAILAND JUST HAS TO BE AN OBVIOUS CHOICE… “

THAILAND
You don’t need to be an ardent Muay Thai specialist nowadays to consider Thailand as an excellent destination for a training vacation. With international specialists such as Tiger Muay Thai who have a successful MMA team alongside their Muay Thai set up in resorts like Phuket, the land of smiles seems like a great choice no matter which combat sport you are interested in.

BRAZIL
If you are involved in MMA or BJJ then Brazil is an obvious choice with Rio De Janeiro being both a tourism mecca, beach paradise and hotspot for some of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu masters in the world. You can do a lot worse than to head for the beautiful South American metropolis and choose from literally dozens of famous masters. Watch out for the first couple of days of sparring though as the young bucks on the mat will want to make sure you know you’re in their back yard!

CALIFORNIA
With a stunning landscape, mega cities and beautiful climate, unless you already live there, then REVGEAR’s homeland of California has a lot to offer the Fight Tourist!

Whatever you want you can pretty much find it in CA; Los Angeles is home of Freddie Roaches Wildcard, Justin Fortunes “Fortunes Gym”, Rafael Cordiero’s Kings MMA and several other major teams. In the north there is Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, while Southern California has Alliance in San Diego. Simply put there are too many options to even list.

Boxing, MMA and BJJ all have very strong gyms quite often well set up for travelling fighters. Some such as Alliance even have dorms and on site accommodation.

The language barrier can sometimes be an issue of course, but in most cases everyone speaks the language of fighting. If you are serious about your sport, then just the people you will meet, and the contacts you will gain in California are probably worth the trip alone – and its an easy jaunt to Las Vegas too.

The USA, Thailand, Brazil all could be an expensive training trips depending, however for the love of mma, bjj, and muay thai, its always a small price to pay.
