Open your Wings of Victory

The Wings of Victory is a signature move of F2W athlete Daniel Wuerthner

Daniel has successfully used the Wings of Victory in several BJJ tournaments to take the winning podium position. Here, Daniel shares the secrets of the technique so you can raise your hand in victory.

The move begins with your opponent in your closed guard. First, you need to untuck their gi on the right side, then grab a cross collar grip with your right hand while swimming your left arm inside their arm on the lefthand side, giving them a deep underhook.

You then reach back and grab hold of their untucked gi lapel with your left hand. Move your left foot to their shoulder on the right hand side and wrap your own ankle with in their gi. Switch the grip of their gi lapel to your right hand. Push their free wrist down into your pocket and hip escape to your left, keeping them facing away with elbow pressure.

Using your free foot, push their arm up and hook the foot you have under their gi behind their bicep. Now plant your right foot on the floor, grab their arm and pull it towards your for the submission.
