MMA fans will need no introduction to the Hardwick brothers; Harry and George, two of the UK’s rising stars and Cage Warriors regulars.

The brothers fight out of Middlesbrough Fight Academy as well as with Pete Irving, and have been part of the Revgear fighter roster for several years. With a Pro MMA Record of 13-3-1, Harry has one more fight than his younger brother George who has an eerily similar record of 13-3-0.

Their recent double title defense on Cage Warriors was a strange evening with George losing his title in an upset against Samuel Silva, while Harry “Houdini” retained his after a bizarre accidental headbutt forced a stoppage, leading to a technical decision based on the four completed rounds, which Harry won.

Harry, the eldest sibling at 30 fights in the featherweight division, while 29 year old George fights at lightweight.

The Hardwick brothers grew up on Teesside, where they were introduced to mixed martial arts as teenagers after starting out in Muay Thai. The competitive siblings started on the same day and both decided that they wanted a pro career at the same time too. They both credit training together as the reason they are so close, as can be seen in their Fight Day video. Rather than scrapping in the house, they turned their energy towards MMA.

They have often been compared to the Diaz brothers as they are also siblings known for pressure and body shots. George has stated that he and his brother have the same “neanderthal eyebrows” and are both stubborn when sparring with each other.

In an interview with the BBC recently, George said his real talent would have been competitive eating, referencing a time he ate two “Teeside Parmos, two bags of chips and a salted caramel cheesecake” – a haul totaling around 9000 calories. Harry says that’s the reason George is heavier than he is.

When not joking with each other, the pair both have eyes set on the UFC, a place that Cage Warriors has taken many talented fighters from the UK already.
