By securing a coveted GLORY Kickboxing contract, the 21-year-old “golden boy” of UK kickboxing, “Mighty” Mo Abdurahman began to build his fame. In reality, his career eight years in the making, the young Southampton based fighter has now begun to reap the rewards of his commitment to his craft.

Mo Abdurahman first started training with Dean Kendall at Lookborai/Exile Gym when he was fourteen years old. A year later, he had his first fight and has been on an upward trajectory since then. While he lost out to a more experienced Chris Shaw in February’s DUEL Grand Prix and despite a gutsy performance, Mo has had an incredible eighteen months.

Starting with Mo’s victory over K-Star Legacy’s Josh Page in February 2016, he then faced Chris Garnet at RONIN in July. In September, he took the 63kg WKA English Title by defeating Femi Akinade at Super Fight Series II. Mo’s next victory, over the more experienced Andre Teixeira in Denmark in November, clinched him the Honor of the Ring World Champion title. In December, he headed to Bosnia to fight on the K1 World Grand Prix Europe Show where a spinning back fist won him a TKO victory over Bernardo Roquete.

2017 looks to be another great year for Mighty Mo. In March, he won the 65kg 8-man Road to GLORY UK tournament, securing a two-fight contract with GLORY. A second round stoppage against Matthew Gordon, was followed by a first round KO of Joe Himsworth. This got Mo into the final against Bailey Sugden where the decision went his way.

The future is looking very bright for Mo Abdurahman. He is an aggressive pressure fighter, perfectly suited to K1. Extremely mobile, Mo favors kicks and knees, but is also very comfortable using elbows, excelling in his RONIN K1 +elbows rules fight against Chris Garnet. Every inch a K1 champion, Mo thrives in a tournament environment. Next for Mo, he’s headed to China to take part in a WKA K1 4-man tournament at 65kg.

Watch this space. Mighty Mo Abdurahman is just at the beginning of a very promising career. Whether K1, Muay Thai or a hybrid of the two, this young fighter is unlikely to back down from a challenge and will win many more titles and belts in the process.
