MuscleTech Multivitamin vs. Optimum Nutrition (I Tried Both): Who Wins In 2024?

Quick Verdict

MuscleTech Multivitamins provide better value and are a potent supplement. The vitamins and minerals are well-dosed, and if this is all you need, then the product can be a cost-effective solution.

Opti Men is too expensive for its contents to be a worthy contender in this case. It has a solid vitamin and mineral content, but the rest of the formulation is largely underdosed, making the high price unjustified.

Both products contain many additional components, such as amino acids and various herbs and plants, which are worthy additions in general but are included in too miniature doses to be worth considering.

Opti Men vs. MuscleTech Main Differences

Benefits

Animal Pak and Muscletech are multivitamins for men that offer various benefits. Multivitamins, in general, provide essential micronutrients to the body, many of which are difficult to obtain in adequate levels from food alone.

Getting all the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids your body needs can give you more energy, greater immunological support, hormone support, digestive health, and various other benefits.

Men’s multivitamins, such as these two, attempt to deliver ingredients necessary for muscle growth, exercise recovery, and overall fitness improvement.

Both supplements are built for active men on a mission to optimize their health and meet their fitness goals.

Ingredients

The ingredient lists of Opti Men and MuscleTech Multivitamins are extensive and contain more than 50 ingredients. Opti-Men boasts 75 active components divided into specific blends with different functions, and MuscleTech follows a similar formula.

The two products also disclose the exact dosage of each component, which is how all supplements should be. This allows us to measure their expected effectiveness based on clinical studies.

The two products’ vitamin complexes contain largely the same components, including Vitamins A, C, D, E, B12, B6, Folate, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamine, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, and a few others.

Both products have higher doses of specific elements than their competitor, but Muscletech leads in most vitamins.

Further in the ingredients list, we find the two amino acid complexes. Opti Men has BCAAs, while Muscletech relies on glycine, l-methionine, l-citrulline malate, l-arginine HCL, and l-cysteine.

Both are worthy of inclusion in a formulation of this type, but the dosages seem to be too low to produce meaningful results.

The Muscletech herbal mix is also solid, with ingredients like ginko, Turmeric, and Green coffee extract, but the 401 mg total for seven ingredients is far too low.

Opti Men also contains herbs and plants, including ginger, green tea, and olive leaf extracts, but again, in minuscule doses.

Muscltech also has an additional mineral complex containing potassium, choline, inositol, and boron.

A noteworthy addition to the Opti Men formula is the 500 mg of Lutein, which maintains eye health and reduces inflammation and oxidative stress. Unlike other elements, the dose exceeds the recommended daily amount and can lead to side effects.

Effectiveness

With both supplements, I felt I had more energy to go about my busy days, and the energy was more consistent than usual. I am confident the immune support is also solid. But this is as far as the benefits go.

I can’t determine with certainty which product is more potent because my experience was similar, at least in terms of effectiveness.

Clinical Research

The two supplements are based on modern science and contain components that have been shown to be beneficial and safe. Most of the ingredients have been shown in clinical research to help various aspects of health, physical and mental performance.

Some more speculative compounds in the two products lack clear evidence of their efficacy, but the majority of the components have been well examined.

Muscletech and Optimum Nutrition are long-standing players in the supplement market. Their reputation is stellar because they use reputable third-party testing and have different certifications for quality and safety, so this is not something you should worry about.

Side Effects

With so many components, you might experience some adverse effects, at least initially. The majority of people have no problems; however, if you are allergic to certain substances, you may experience an allergic reaction.

The most prevalent side effect is stomach upset, which can be induced by a variety of components, particularly those in higher quantities.

Muscle Tech and Opti Men may have many underdosed components, but some are also overdosed, such as Lutein, Riboflavin, and Niacin, which are known to cause side effects if consumed more than the recommended daily intake.

Opti-Men gave me some slight stomach discomfort in the first week, which was unpleasant, while I had no issues with MuscleTech.

User Reviews

When you look at the web reviews for Opti Men, it appears to be a great product. Based on verified Amazon customer reviews, it has an impressive 4.6 out of 5-star rating.

When you look at the positive reviews, many people claim it provides them a little more energy, is of high quality and easy to take, and gives them peace of mind that adding it to their daily routine helps address nutrient gaps caused by a bad diet.

However, there are no reviews from people who believe that using it improved their overall health significantly.

There were a few key elements to consider when it came to negative ratings. The bulk of the negative reviews stated that it had no benefit to their health, and some even claimed that it had detrimental effects.

The Platinum Multi-Vitamin has a 4.5 out of 5-star rating on Amazon, which is excellent and compares favorably to many other multivitamins.

Most positive reviews emphasize the product’s manufacturing quality and its excellent value. Many people mention how impressive they found the quantity of most of the vitamins included, except vitamin D.

However, there is no mention of how the supplement affected them other than that it gave them more energy and helped them focus.

Other folks had concerns about the multivitamin.

These included the pills being difficult to swallow, having an awful flavor and an unappealing, bright yellow appearance, providing no noticeable advantages, and even causing upset stomachs.

My Experience With Opti Men And MuscleTech

I have already shared my positive experiences with Opti Men and MuscleTech Multivitamins. They both gave me greater and more sustained energy, and I felt better in general. As with all adequately dosed multivitamin supplements, I am sure the immune support was also adequate.

But this is as far as the positive goes. On the negative side, Opti Men caused me stomach issues, including bloating and gas. The effect subsided after two or three days, but it’s still worth noting.

Muscltech, on the other hand, did not cause side effects, but it has an issue with the pills’ size and taste. Gulping even one (the daily dose is 3 capsules) can be challenging due to the size and unpleasant smell.

I’ve also seen quite a few user reviews stressing these same problems.

Should You Choose Opti Men Or MuscleTech?

It’s difficult for me to pick a clear winner. Muscle Tech is half the price while having higher doses of most vitamins and minerals, which is the main purpose of a supplement. The amino acids and herbs are in negligible doses, but the vitamins and minerals are worth the price alone.

But the pills are too large and smell funny, which can deter a lot of people from sticking to the 3 tables per day routine consistently.

Opti Men does not have this problem and is a potent multivitamin supplement. Still, the price of over a dollar per serving is not justified when you compare the ingredients to MuscleTech, let alone to other more potent products like Animal Pak and Prime Male Vitamins.

If you don’t have problems swallowing large capsules and you are only looking for vitamins and minerals without any “extras,” MuscleTech Multivitamins provides a much better value. Prime Male T-Vitamins may be a better solution if you want something more comprehensive. The price is higher, but so are the possible benefits.
